Ultimate Peace

We would like you all to welcome our friends Ultimate Peace to the ride!

We have chosen to raise money  and awareness for this fantastic initiative through means of our crazy push bike ride.

Established in 2008, Ultimate Peace is an organization that uses the exhilarating and fun sport of Ultimate Frisbee to build community, unite people, and educate youth around the world. Their most notable program to date is Ultimate Peace in the Middle East where the organizers of Ultimate Peace bring together disadvantaged youth from Palestinian, Arab Israeli, and Israeli Jewish communities to learn, play and unite around the sport of Ultimate.

Tippety Top End

At 1:15pm yesterday in 34 degrees and 72% humidity jess and I made our way into Darwin. Right til the final day we weren’t sure if it would be possible, as my rear tyre had five cuts in it and I had punctured four times the previous day on the road to Adelaide River. Perhaps stupidly we bought two spare schwalbe marathon tyres and decided to leave them with my parents in creswick thinking it would be OK to wait for them to be posted up when needed! So with no tyre to replace, and with all six spares used we got a little bit creative…

Hello! It’s been a while!

We have had an exciting few weeks since leaving you last in Port Pirie. Dingoes, Emu’s, Kangaroos, Road trains, houses on trucks, outback grand finals, outback hospitality, new cyclist friends, dinner in caravans, Wedge tailed eagles, Kestrels – and no more bloody magpies!

Over the hills and far away

We have made it 959 kilometres through to Port Pirie, South Australia with a few bumps and scrapes and smiles on our faces.

We have been on the road for sixteen days now and are just starting to get the hang of this bicycle touring thing. We have been mostly free camping at State Parks or local cricket ovals, but were also shouted a couple nights accommodation from my Dad, Rob, who rode with us through to Murray Bridge, SA. Thanks Dad!

Ferry, Ferry Big Bike Adventure

Our second and final bike tour in preparation for the big one started out last week at Frankston. Our friends Dan Young and Ewan Wymer were along for the ride in very high winds – at times reaching 70km/h on the first two days. Our 6 day trip covered 430km and more changes to the plan than you can poke a stick at.
